On December 14th, China Energy Constructionwon the bid for the EPC general contracting project of the 1000 MW photovoltaicproject of the China National Nuclear Corporation's North Laos InterconnectionClean Energy Base (Phase I). The project is the largest clean energy projectwith installed capacity in Laos and currently the largest single unit capacityclean energy project in Southeast Asia.
The project is located in OudomxayProvince, Laos, with a planned installed capacity of 1000 MW. A new 500 kVsubstation will be built, and a new 500 kV transmission line will be connectedto Namo Substation in Laos. A new inspection and maintenance center base willalso be built simultaneously.
After the full capacity of the project isput into operation, it is expected that the annual electricity consumption willbe 1.687 billion kilowatt hours, which can save about 510400 tons of standardcoal per year. Correspondingly, the annual emissions of waste gas caused bycoal combustion can be reduced, including 1.4038 million tons of carbondioxide, 269.95 tons of sulfur dioxide, 302.01 tons of nitrogen oxides, 53.99tons of smoke and dust, and 2.0415 million cubic meters of fresh water.
After the completion of the project, itwill help Laos transform its resource advantages into economic advantages, effectively promoting local energy green and low-carbon transformation andhigh-quality sustainable economic and social development. In addition, inaddition to meeting local consumption, the remaining electricity of the projectwill be sent back to China, adding clean energy outside the region to China'ssouthern power grid, assisting Laos in building the "Southeast AsianBattery" vision, and significantly improving the level of powerinterconnection between China and Laos.
This is due to the government's support forrenewable energy and the continuous progress of photovoltaic technology. In thepast few years, Laos has experienced rapid growth in photovoltaic powergeneration. With the increasing global attention to environmental protectionand sustainable development, photovoltaic power generation in Laos willcontinue to maintain a strong growth momentum, providing broad market space forrelated enterprises.
